About The Mind

Did you know that your mind is the most powerful tool you have? Yes, EVERYTHING starts in your mind! What you think about.. is what comes about!

Everything Starts In The Mind… I Dare You To Change Your Mind!

It is important to understand

If you have negative thoughts or are sometimes a pessimistic person, understand this can be why you often feel stuck.. the reason you somehow sabotage good opportunities, or the reason you attract confusion and often spiral into dark places!

It’s true.. If you are like me, you grew up in a home, in a neighborhood, and attended schools where you heard more negative messages than ever anything positive. Further, if you are like me, you may have experienced harsh treatment, bullying, or physical and/or verbal abuse. In fact, at some point, you probably had one or more adults who said things to you like, “You will never be good at (insert area),” or “You are just lazy!” or “Why are you wasting your time on that.. you aren’t any good at it!” While these statements alone have had a confusing and negative impact on millions of kids, hearing something similar during a time of a heightened emotional experience can significantly impact someone, creating a negative emotional and psychological imprint.

This negative imprint operates in such a way that we are unable to move forward in a positive direction.. this negative imprint is often heavy and consistently holds us back. Research has shown that these types of early negative experiences (thoughts and feelings) are more often the root of our destructive habits, which in turn, ultimately effect our health, work, relationships, and overall peace of mind and quality of life.

Your mind is the most powerful tool you have…

Using the power of your mind, hypnotherapy can help you to see the past from several different perceptual positions. And, while most people live in the present focusing on the things of the past, things that were said (You’re ugly and fat) and or not said (I’m proud of you, I love you), these same people lack the understanding to know how to change the past. Yes, I can help you can change your past experiences and how you feel about things that were said (I’ve never loved you, you’re a failure) or not said (You are beautiful, You are smart). I can also help you change how you feel about things that were done to you (neglect, emotional, physical abuse) or not done to you (physical affection, affirmed, etc.).

Working together, you will be able to quickly and painlessly release any emotional attachment to any past experience, releasing yourself from all of the pain in your past, the emotional pain that has kept you “stuck” and “confused”.

Your mind has the power to negatively or positively shape your future

it is up to you to choose!

As a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, my role is to help create a safe and trusting experience so you are able to relax enough to open the pathway to your subconscious mind.

Simplified, your mind is comprised of your conscious mind and subconscious mind. The conscious mind controls about 10-12% of your functions, while your subconscious mind operates at about 88-90% of your functions. The conscious mind is the part of your mind that is responsible for logic and reasoning. If you are asked what time it is, it’s your Conscious Mind that is going to be used to look at the clock or at your watch.

Your conscious mind controls all of your actions that you do intentionally while being conscious. For example, when you decide to do any voluntary action like talking to someone or giving someone a “high five”, it is done by the conscious mind.

In other words, whenever you are aware of the thing you’re doing (talking to someone, giving a “high-five”), you can be confident that you are most likely doing it using your conscious mind. For example, if you are outside and it is hot.. and you are thirsty.. and you decide to go inside and get a drink of water.. this process of going to get a drink of water will be done by your Conscious Mind because you were 100% conscious while doing it.

Your conscious mind is also known as the gate keeper for your mind. If someone tried to tell you something, something that didn’t align or agree with your belief system, then your Conscious Mind will attempt to filter that belief, and reject it if it doesn’t agree. For example, if you were called names as a child growing up (fatso) and told that you were “ugly” (both stored in your subconscious), and then years later you became slim and “attractive” – you would most likely have challenges or difficulty having someone giving you positive compliments because what you would be hearing (You look great.. Wow, you are attractive!) would not align or agree with your belief system (what you have been told and received growing up).

Your subconscious mind controls all of the actions you do The Subconscious Mind is the part of your mind (88-90%) responsible for all of your involuntary actions. For example, you do not “think” about controlling your heartbeat, your breathing rate, or your blood pressure; these, and millions of other things, are controlled by your subconscious mind.

Consider this: Your emotions are controlled by your subconscious mind. For example, if you have ever felt anxious, afraid, or sad.. even though you didn’t actually want to feel that way

Your subconscious mind is also where your beliefs and memories are stored. That’s why affirmations make no sense and can never improve your beliefs. Affirmations are done on a conscious level and are always filtered by the subconscious mind because they usually don’t match your belief system.

The right way to change a limiting belief is to convince the conscious mind logically to accept it so that it can pass to the subconscious mind and reside there

Think of the subconscious mind as the storage room of everything that is currently not in your conscious mind.

The subconscious mind stores all of your previous life experiences, your beliefs, your memories, your skills, every situations that you have been through and all images you’ve ever seen. Your subconscious mind is also like a video recorder, recording everything you see, hear, touch, taste, and smell. It’s in there.. stored away.. and you may not always or easily be able to access something that happened in the past, but you can be assured it’s in there.

Another way to demonstrate an understanding of the subconscious mind is through an example of when you first started to learn how to drive a car. Do you even remember? Think back. If you recall, in the beginning, if you were like most teens who were driving for the first time, the radio was off and you were not able to hold a conversation with anyone. If you are honest, and like the rest of us, you were focusing on all of the different things you had to do (look in rear view mirror, look at side mirrors, use turn signal, check speed, keep eyes on the road, watch other cars, check rear view mirror, etc.) Indeed, you were focusing and using your conscious mind to drive.

Everything Starts In The Mind… I Dare You To Change Your Mind!

If you were like the rest of us, only a few short weeks later, the radio was on, you were talking to your friend and laughing, not even concerned about or focusing on all of the things you had to do (look in rear view mirror, look at side mirrors, use turn signal, check speed, keep eyes on the road, watch other cars, check rear view mirror, etc…). Why the change? Well, after a few weeks of driving, you created a pattern, a habit that happened automatically without needing to think about it. Yes, you still checked mirrors, checked the speed, etc… …though, now, it wasn’t being done consciously. You were able to drive without actually consciously thinking about all of the things you had to do because the conscious driving pattern had now been moved and stored in your subconscious mind—and you were on “autopilot” and so the conscious mind became free to listen to the radio or talk to your friend, etc…

The subconscious mind is responsible for the automatically triggered feelings and emotions that you suddenly experience upon facing a new situation. If you were about to give a presentation then all the fear and anxiety feelings you might experience are in fact launched and controlled by your subconscious mind.

How you can you program your subconscious mind?

When the information about driving is stored into your subconscious mind it’s stored as a program. Think of your mind as a computer and the driving information as software that can be run automatically whenever needed.

The same goes for lots of other activities and emotions. If you feel disrespected, attacked, offended, or hurt by another person, the installed program of anger will often be launched and the result will also be behaviors and words that you will most likely regret later.

By programming the subconscious mind with new programs, you will be able to address the internal issues that visibly manifest in your personality.

Programming your subconscious can be done through hypnosis. The subconscious mind learns by repetition and not by logic. This is why you can convince someone to believe in something by repeating your argument again and again rather than using logic.

Rules of the subconscious mind

In order to best use the power of your subconscious mind you must first know how the subconscious mind works. The subconscious mind is governed by many rules. Learning about these rules will allow you to make the best use out of your subconscious mind with the least effort.

Ego defense mechanisms

Just like your body has its defenses against physical wounds and injuries, your subconscious mind has its defenses against emotional shocks and wounds.

These are called ego defense mechanisms or unconscious defense mechanisms. The ego defense mechanisms’ main function is to protect your well-being and to help you overcome emotional shocks.

Many people don’t realize it but they’ve been in out of hypnosis many times throughout their lives. I often tell my clients that I free them damaging habitual patterns! I help people release those old destructive thoughts, and help them plant new, healthy thoughts of their choosing.

We often had suggestions planted in the fertile minds of our youth, some good… some not-so-good. When you watch TV, you are mesmerized into “Super-size this… buy this now… take this magic pill to make you better, healthier, more virile.” Have you ever been driving your car and missed the exit? Have you ever watched an engaging movie or been immersed in a good book and lost track of the time? Your mind was in a hypnotic trance. Actually, you go into that trance state every evening. Just before you drift asleep, you enter the Theta State. This is same state of trance that is used in hypnosis to help you access the subconscious memories that are interfering with your life. This is also the best place to plant the beneficial suggestions that help you create your new, positive, and empowering life.

Remember that our thoughts create our life. Your subconscious mind has been operating on the thoughts you have been thinking. Hypnosis will help you to create what you really want. Once you remove the old mental virus that was affecting your thoughts, you then reprogram your subconscious mind with new thought-ware… thoughts you choose to think. You must tell your subconscious mind what you truly desire. In hypnosis, you change your mind-talk from where you have been, to where you choose to be. Once you start creating, thinking about, and visualizing where you want to be, you convince the subconscious mind to help create it for you. You can finally shed that extra weight, stop smoking forever, become calmer, more focused, and empower yourself for success. You’re able to create a life with intent, purpose, and a true knowledge of where you choose to go.
